Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community located in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of communities. For those who haven't heard of it often think it is a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island, although it's not the case. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer but due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed every dance partner she met. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 feet 1 inch tall. Once I was bigger than any male partner, I stopped. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation from her high school teacher of drama. She was recommended by a teacher to find a role in school's annual production. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the main character for Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she's been in over 60 productions including big screen productions and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was the one of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian member.
